About Us
About Cafe-Nomad
We're building the world's most trusted directory of laptop-friendly cafes, powered by a community of remote workers who verify what matters: WiFi speed, noise levels, and power outlets.
Our Mission
Finding a good cafe to work from shouldn't be a gamble. We built Cafe-Nomad because every remote worker, student, and digital nomad deserves to know exactly what they're walking into before they sit down. Google Maps tells you a cafe exists. Yelp tells you the food is good. Only Cafe-Nomad tells you the WiFi is 75 Mbps, the noise level is low, and there are plenty of outlets.
Who We Are
We're a small team of four friends based in Quebec City, Canada. It all started because we were constantly wondering where to go hang out and realized there was no good way to choose the right spot. So we decided to create one. That's how Cafe-Nomad was born. We worked on the concept for a while and soon found ways to make it happen. Now we're happy to share the project with the world.

How It Works
We source baseline cafe information from Google Places API — addresses, hours, reviews, and amenities. This gives us a solid foundation of verified business data.
Community members visit cafes and submit real data: WiFi speed tests run on-site, noise level ratings, outlet availability votes, and seating comfort ratings. Voters must be physically present, verified via geolocation.
Once a cafe receives 3 or more independent votes on a metric, it's marked as 'Verified' — meaning you can trust the data before you even arrive. Until then, we clearly label estimates so you always know the confidence level.
Our Data Sources
Baseline data — addresses, hours, reviews, and atmosphere — comes from the Google Places API, ensuring accuracy and freshness for every listing.
WiFi speed, noise levels, outlet availability, and seating comfort are community-sourced. Visitors run real speed tests and submit ratings directly from each cafe, with geolocation verification to prevent false submissions.
We clearly label every data point with its verification status: Verified (3+ independent community votes), Estimated (heuristic or partial data), or Pending (awaiting first votes). We never hide uncertainty.
Our Verification Methodology
Every data point on Cafe-Nomad is labeled with its verification status: Verified (3+ community votes), Estimated (heuristic or partial data), or Pending (awaiting first votes). We never hide uncertainty — transparency builds trust.
WiFi speeds are measured using real speed tests (including Cloudflare-based tests) run from inside the cafe. Noise levels are rated on a simple Low/Medium/High scale by visitors. Outlet availability is confirmed via community votes. All votes require geolocation verification to prevent gaming.
